SC State Alumni Newsletter — Keeping the Legacy Alive
“So Hard!”
15 June 2026There are some pictures that simply make you smile the moment you see them — and this is definitely one of them.
Standing in front of two massive cruise ships, arms stretched wide, with the ocean behind him and the sun shining bright, this photo captures more than just a vacation moment. It captures joy, gratitude, freedom, and the kind of energy that says, “I am exactly where I’m supposed to be.”
The scene is beautiful. The blue sky is wide open, the water is calm, and the ships are lined up like floating cities ready for adventure. But what really makes the picture special is the excitement in the moment — the kind of image that reminds us to pause, breathe, enjoy the view, and appreciate the experiences life allows us to have.
Bulldog Nation, let’s celebrate another outstanding achievement! SC State Men’s Tennis head coach has been named the ITA/Dunlop Carolina Regional Coach of the Year — a tremendous recognition that speaks to the dedication, leadership, and hard work being put in on the courts at South Carolina State University.
This is what Bulldog excellence looks like off the football field. Our coaches and student-athletes are representing SC State at the highest level across every sport — and this honor is well deserved. Congratulations, Coach Judge!

Bulldog Nation, this is exciting news! SC State alumnus Edward Halsell has been named the head coach of the Women’s Golf program as the university moves to revive the sport.
Bringing back a former Bulldog to lead this program is exactly the kind of homecoming story we love. Halsell knows the institution, understands the culture, and is ready to build something special at SC State.
This move represents a renewed commitment to expanding athletic opportunities at South Carolina State University — and having an alumnus at the helm makes it that much more meaningful. Welcome home, Coach Halsell!

Hey Family — I was contacted by the Move-In Mafia on behalf of a young lady they are working with and are desperate to find assistance for this young Bulldog student. If someone knows how to help, please let me know ASAP. I know someone in our group knows how to help this young lady.
We’re trying to find a neurologist near South Carolina State University for one of our Move-In Day Mafia scholars at SCSU, and her situation is worsening.
