Introducing Cedric “City Ced” Nelson

For those of you I have not had the pleasure of meeting yet — and for those of you I already know — allow me to introduce myself. My name is Cedric “City Ced” Nelson, and I’m from White Plains, New York. I attended SCSU from 1988 to 1991 and had the honor of playing football under the legendary Coach Willie Jeffries.

I honestly don’t remember exactly how I was first introduced to the Bulldog Wire, but I do remember how happy I was when I started receiving the weekly emails. After not seeing them for a while, I reached out to John “Scarp” Alford, and he let me know that anyone can contribute to the Wire. So here I am!

“I already know I won’t be as good as Greg — but I’m going to give it a Bulldog Go!”

I’m excited and willing to help continue contributing to this great community. Please feel free to send me the same information, updates, news, celebrations, and announcements you’ve been sharing — and I will do my best to get them posted and shared with the Bulldog family.

A Bulldog Connection in the 2026 NFL Draft

While it was disappointing that not one HBCU graduate was selected in the recent NFL Draft, we can still celebrate a Bulldog connection. Adam Randall, the son of former Bulldog Jerome Randall, was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round with the 174th pick out of Clemson.

Although Adam did not attend SCSU, his father is a proud South Carolina State University graduate, and we want to send our congratulations and kudos to the entire Randall family. Once a Bulldog family, always a Bulldog family!

Seven Days, Water Only — Bulldogs Take On the Challenge

On a personal note, I want to recognize a group of Bulldogs who recently completed a seven-day, water-only fast. Along with myself, Tim, TC Clark, Henry “Honey” Graham, Kenny “Fat Head” Gathers, and several others took on the challenge — consuming only water for seven full days.

For me, it was something I never thought I could accomplish without becoming ill. After day three, it became more manageable. I won’t say easy — there were definitely moments I wanted a bite of a cheeseburger! But overall, I learned just how strong the mind can be when you commit to something.

We also began learning more about the healing process that can take place during fasting, and it was truly an eye-opening experience. It’s something I believe everyone should at least explore and consider for themselves.

I believe season tickets for Bulldog football are now on sale. Going forward, I’m going to do a much better job of sharing tangible information and links so everyone can access what they need quickly and easily. Stay tuned — more details coming soon!
