Can’t Keep Dropping the Ball, Coach!

Real talk — I gotta own this one. Last week I forgot to hit record, and THIS week I had it in my notes to shout out Dwayne Harper’s induction into the SC Sports Hall of Fame… and still let it slip until Monday morning. That’s on me. Blame it on my head, not my heart.

Dwayne was genuinely inspiring when I arrived at State as a freshman in 1988. He had already made it to the NFL with the Seahawks, and seeing him come back on campus was surreal. That feeling of possibility never left me.

Congrats, Dwayne, on a well-deserved honor — and continued success in everything you do!

Lady Bulldogs End Season With Historic Run!

Our Lady Bulldog softball squad came up just short in the MEAC Championship Game, but don’t sleep on what they accomplished this season. Under first-year head coach Nakeya Hall, SCSU wrapped up with an historic 23 wins — and the milestones don’t stop there:

$54.7 Million — The Bulldogs Are Building!

The steel beam is going up, Bulldogs! A $54.7 million campus expansion is underway at SC State and we are HERE for it. This is the kind of investment that speaks volumes about where this university is headed. The future is bright and it is being built right now.

Reunion Classes Drop a Record $2.3M — WOW!

Bulldogs showed OUT during Alumni Reunion Weekend! Reunion classes came together to contribute a record-breaking $2.3 million. That’s what legacy looks like. That’s what love for your school looks like. Incredibly proud of every single person who gave back.

From Bulldog Dreams to Broadcasting Success: Doug Stewart

I am PROUD to say our first-ever Bulldog Wire vodcast went off without a hitch — and what a story to kick things off with!

Doug Stewart grew up in Moncks Corner dreaming of football. He came to SC State by way of Newberry College, became a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and then — after an injury changed his path — he pivoted into something extraordinary.

Together with his brother Ryan, Doug helped launch what became the first Black sports talk show in the country. Their platform eventually connected them with ESPN and even Skip Bayless. Today they’re live-streaming on YouTube, building their audience, and still giving back — recruiting future Bulldogs and mentoring the next generation.

His message? Life’s setbacks don’t define your future. Amen to that.
